Two Arrested with Stolen Motorcycle, TV and More in Mzimba

Police at Jenda in Mzimba have arrested two hardcore robbers Madalitso Masina 34, and Mavuto Mhone 38, for breaking into various homes and shops where they took assorted items at Jenda trading centre in the district.

The two suspects were arrested through intelligence-driven operations conducted by Police detectives on February 4, 2025, after the detectives received numerous complaints from members of the community about breaking incidents.

It has been established that the two broke into Yamikani Kalivute’s shop at the trading on January 27, 2025, and went away with a Lifani motorcycle, three bags of beans, one bag of soya pieces, one bag of salt weighing 25 kilograms, one bottle of 2 litres of cooking oil, one pail of groundnuts, and one pail of flour, all valued at 1.6 million Malawian kwacha.

The same duo is believed to have on February 3, 2025, broken into John Maseko’s bar where they went away with a Sinotec plasm screen (32 inches) valued at K650,000.

Upon their arrest Police detectives recovered a Lifani motorcycle and a bag of soya pieces from the first breaking, also they recovered a plasm screen that was stolen from the second scene of crime.

Investigations are underway to recover more items as the two are suspected to have also broken into other homes around Jenda trading.

The suspects have been charged with robbery and being found in possession of breaking materials contrary to sections 300 and 313 of the penal code respectively and will appear before court soon when all paperwork is completed to answer their charges.

Madalitso Masina comes from Misolo village, Traditional Authority Msakambewa in Dowa while Mavuto Mhone comes from Chalambauko village, Traditional Authority Mzukuzuku in Mzimba district.
