The Magistrate’s Court in Blantyre has failed to hear a case involving a citizen of the Netherlands, Jan Wim Akster, because the documents of the case are not available.

Akster is suspected of sexually abusing children supported by the Timotheous Foundation, where Akster works in 2020.

The court was expected to hear the case this morning, but due to lack of communication between the judges, Senior Resident Magistrate Andrew Mmanga changed the case to this afternoon.

And the one representing the government in this case, Mr. Victor Jere, said that he is surprised by what has happened, and he said that he thinks that the court had enough time to collect the papers of the case.

“They assured us last year that the case will be heard today, so when they say the files are missing, we are surprised,” Jere said.
