Man Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Suspected Thief in Kasungu

In Kasungu, police are keeping in custody a 52 year-old man, Brighton Mwale, for allegedly murdering a suspected thief.
Kasungu police spokesperson, Joseph Kachikho, said the incident occured at Kamatenda village in the district when the suspect caught the deceased, Chimwemwe Moyo, on suspicion that he was stealing cassava from his farm.
He said, “The suspect grabbed a panga knife which Moyo was using, and later hacked him on the left knee joint and he sustained a big wound”.
According to Inspector Kachikho, Moyo was rushed to Kasungu District Hospital where he died yesterday while receiving treatment.
Moyo, aged 26, hailed from Kalosera village, in the area of Traditional Authority Kalonga in Salima district.
