The death toll from the ongoing rain season has risen to 35 from the previously reported 31, with the number of injuries now standing at 469, up from 382, according to the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DODMA).

Chipiliro Khamula, the spokesperson for DODMA, confirmed the updated figures, attributing the majority of injuries to lightning strikes and damage caused by collapsed walls and damaged roofs during heavy rainfall.

The situation continues to worsen in some regions, with the rains wreaking havoc across the country. Authorities are urging residents in affected areas to stay vigilant and take precautionary measures as the rainy season persists.
