Lingadzi Police Station in Lilongwe is keeping in custody a 21-year-old Sophileti Gideon for allegedly assaulting to death her husband Nelson Jevas, 29, at Kauma over family misunderstandings.
It is said that on 08 February 2025 the husband left home for work without leaving behind money for food. However, after knocking off from his working place, he bought food for supper.
Lingadzi Police Station Deputy spokesperson Maria Kumwenda said instead of the wife to prepare the food upon the husband’s request, the suspect refused to do so.
This did not go down well with the husband, and wrangles erupted that led to a fight.
In the course of fighting, the suspect took a knife and stabbed the husband on the abdomen.
The matter was reported at Lingadzi Police Station and police detectives rushed to the scene of the crime.
Jevas was rushed to Kamuzu Central Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.
The suspect will be charged with a case of murder.
Both the suspect and the deceased hail from Ndevu Village, Traditional Authority Kalolo in Lilongwe District.
