Malawian artist Kell Kay has been nominated for the prestigious Headies Awards, one of Africa’s biggest music competitions.
Kell Kay is listed in the Southern Africa category, competing alongside five other artists from the region. The category includes South African musicians Tyla, Zee Nxumalo, Titom, and Yuppe, as well as Plutonio from Mozambique.
The Headies Awards feature some of Africa’s biggest stars, including Davido, Wizkid, Kizz Daniel, Tiwa Savage, Flavour, Mercy Chinwo, Diamond Platnumz, Rema, Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr, who are nominated in various categories.
Reacting to the nomination, Kell Kay expressed excitement and surprise, stating that he never expected to be recognized at such a prestigious level.
The Headies Awards are organized by Hip Hop World Magazine and celebrate excellence in African music. Kell Kay’s nomination marks a significant milestone for Malawi’s music industry, further highlighting the country’s growing presence on the international stage.
