The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested immigration officer Vincent Ndovie for his alleged involvement in corrupt activities. According to ACB Principal Public Relations Officer Egrita Ndala, Ndovie, while stationed at the Mzuzu Immigration Office, accepted K78,500 from a passport applicant without issuing a receipt.
When Ndovie discovered that the passport seeker had reported the incident to the ACB, he reportedly began threatening the individual. Ndovie is now facing charges of abuse of office, theft, and intimidation.
The officer has been granted bail under strict conditions, including reporting to the ACB offices every two weeks, surrendering his travel documents, providing a non-cash surety valued at K2 million, and paying a K100,000 cash bail bond.
