Police in Lilongwe have arrested three men suspected of being behind a spate of burglaries targeting shops and houses under construction in Chitipi.

According to Lilongwe Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Khumbo Sanyiwa, the suspects have been identified as Harward Chikumbutso (30), Frank Ezalias (31), and Stephano Maganga (27).

Sanyiwa stated that the trio allegedly stole aluminum doors, shovels, door frames, bales of sugar, and bags of maize, among other items, all valued at K3.4 million.

Following police investigations in Chitipi, one of the stolen items was recovered, leading to the arrests.

Police say investigations are still ongoing to apprehend more suspects and recover additional stolen property linked to break-ins in Chinsapo, Chitipi, Njewa, and surrounding areas.
