The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has set key dates for voter transfers so that eligible voters can update their registration details ahead of polling day.

Starting from February 25th, MEC will open centers in three phases to facilitate the process.

According to MEC’s Communications Officer Richard Mveriwa, voters in the Phase One councils, the transfer period will run from February 25th to 27th.

Those under Phase Two councils will have their turn from March 5th to 7th, while the final phase, Phase Three councils, will take place from March 13th to 15th.

Mveriwa says the exercise is open to individuals who registered during the initial or supplementary registration phases and wish to transfer their registration to a different voting center.

MEC has emphasized that no transfers will be allowed on polling day, urging voters to act within the given timeframe to avoid last-minute inconveniences.
