Police in Ntchisi have arrested 33-year-old Pitilizani Chaomba for allegedly attempting to steal a motorcycle from a kabaza operator and stabbing him in the stomach.

According to Ntchisi Police spokesperson Salomy Zgambo, the incident happened on February 8, 2025, around 6 PM when 18-year-old Madalitso Martin, a kabaza operator, picked up Chaomba as a passenger from Ntchisi Boma to Chisesa Village under Senior Chief Chilooko.

Upon reaching Kaombe Forest, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed Martin in the stomach and arm, intending to steal his SANLG motorcycle. However, the victim managed to wrestle the knife from Chaomba, stabbing him in the head and cutting off part of his ear.

The suspect fled the scene in severe pain, while passersby rushed Martin to Ntchisi District Hospital, where he was later referred to Kamuzu Central Hospital for further treatment.

Chaomba was arrested on February 18 and hails from Chatinkha Village, Senior Chief Chilooko, in Ntchisi District. He is expected to appear in court soon.
