The University of Malawi (UNIMA) has expelled 20 students, suspended three, and issued a strong warning to one for violating examination regulations.
According to a letter dated February 18, 2025, from the university registrar’s office signed Tonny Kanyumbu seen by Face of Malawi, the affected students appeared before the Senate academic disciplinary subcommittee to respond to their charges.
The letter states that the students were found guilty of cheating during a practical test, plagiarism, bringing unauthorised materials into the exam room, facilitating cheating, and unreported collaboration during exams.
UNIMA’s Registrar, Martin Matululu, confirmed the development to media in an interview with Zodiak on Tuesday evening.
This comes just weeks after the university expelled four students and issued a warning to another for similar offenses
