Nearly a week after delivering his 104-page, three-hour-long State of the Nation Address (SONA), President Lazarus Chakwera has announced a town hall chat with young people under 30.
In a video clip shared on Official Facebook Page, Chakwera has emphasised that the session is scheduled to take place on tomorrow on Friday February 21 in afternoon hour, will be streamed live online and will focus on the over 500 development projects discussed in his address.
Observers view this move as an attempt by State House to contain backlash from critics who found Chakwera’s district-by-district breakdown of projects off-track and unprecedented.
While the president framed his SONA as a record of his administration’s achievements, opposition figures and analysts have dismissed it as an empty campaign speech ahead of the 2025 elections.
