
Old Mutual sponsors IIM Charter Dinner with MK3 million

Old Mutual Malawi has donated Mk3 million towards this year’s Charter Dinner organized by the Insurance Institute of Malawi (IIM) in Blantyre this coming Saturday.
The gala dinner will see students who are also employees of various Insurance Companies in the country receiving awards after successfully finishing their studies.
Speaking after the Cheque presentation Old Mutual Malawi Human Capital Executive Rex Kadzongwe said the company recognizes the crucial role IIM plays in promoting excellence and professionalism within the insurance industry hence the donation.
“This sponsorship is not merely an act of financial support; it symbolizes our deep-rooted belief in the potential of the insurance institute of Malawi, and in the dynamic professionals who form its core.
“Your dedication and hard work play on essential role advancing professionalism and excellence in our industry, and we at Old Mutual are committed to being a part of this journey,” said Kadzongwe.
He added: “As we step into the future together, we are acutely aware that the insurance sector Malawi faces challenges, with a penetration rate of just 3% we have much ground to cover However, it is through initiatives like the Gala Dinner that we can foster colaboration, engage in discussions, and ignite innovation to drive our industry forward.”
IIM President Ruben Kamanga Kawelele hailed Old Mutual for the timely donation.
“Am very grateful with this donation from Old Mutual and this donation will help us in awarding our graduates as one way of motivating the students,” he said.
Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor Dr. Macdonald Mafuta Mwale is scheduled to attend the gala dinner and he will be the guest of honor.
The Insurance Institute of Malawi is the arm of the insurance industry in Malawi that deals with education and training. Its main objective is to promote professionalism in the insurance industry through education and training. The Institute started operating in 1978.
