8 Year-Old Boy Dies After Toilet Wall Collapses on Him in Ntcheu

A Standard four learner at Mdeka Primary School identified as Joshua Yohane, 8, has died after the walls of the toilet collapsed on him.
Public Relations Officer for Ntcheu Police Station Inspector Jacob Khembo has confirmed this indicating that the deceased, who hailed from Ndagoma Village, Traditional Authority Kwataine in Ntcheu District faced the incident in the afternoon of February 20, 2025 at Ndagoma area in Ntcheu District.
“The minor met with his fate when he entered the toilet to answer the call of nature and while there, the walls of the toilet collapsed and fell on him due to the heavy down pour,” Khembo said.
He added that when people heard heavy sound from the toilet, they rushed to the area and found the minor buried by the rubbles of the toilet walls and he was immediately rushed to Ntcheu District Hospital where death was announced upon arrival.
A Postmortem conducted showed that death was due to basal skull fracture secondary to head injury.
