The Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services in Malawi has successfully repatriated 118 Ethiopian migrants following their conviction for unlawful entry and stay in the country.
The individuals were arrested for violating Section 21(1) of the Immigration Act, and after legal proceedings, they were sentenced to imprisonment with hard labor at Maula Prison in Lilongwe.
The repatriation, which was carried out with funding from the International Organisation for Migration, is part of efforts to alleviate congestion in the country.
