Democratic Progressive Party president Peter Mutharika (APM) has urged religious leaders and other influential people to speak against ills happening in the country as one way of representing the voiceless.

He said Malawi has reached a sorry state due to poor leadership by the current regime, hence, there is a need for religious leaders, who have critical voice to speak against the ills.

Mutharika, who is former president of the country, said this today at his Page House in Mangochi during prayers with some members of the clergy from the Church of Central African Presbyterian (CCAP), Blantyre Syond.

During the prayers, the Synod’s former secretary general Reverend Alex Maulana encouraged Mutharika to remain steadfast and resolute towards the election.

“We are here to pray for you. We want to invoke God to give you good health, wisdom and strength so that you become the President to redeem Malawi from the current situation,” he said.

About 71 CCAP clerics from various churches under the Blantyre Syond gathered at Page House today.
