Chairperson of Blantyre Synod Retirees Reverend Roy Zingani has distanced himself from any involvement with the purported candidacy endorsement by some Synod ministers who recently visited former president, Peter Mutharika, at Page House in Mangochi.

Zingani said his visit to Page House was on the assumption that it was organised by the Synod only to discover later that the visit was organised by certain grouping of the church ministers.

He added that as one of the Synod’s policy initiator and Blantyre Synod constitution drafters, he understands that it is illegal for church ministers to participate in partisan politics.

The reverend also described the suggestions that they were given millions of kwacha to endorse Mutharika’s candidacy as a lie.
