The Ministry of Trade and Industry has revoked the business license of Kaunjika Wholesalers and Retailers following a demonstration by vendors in Lilongwe.
In a press statement issued today, signed by the ministry’s secretary Christina Zakeyo, the government has warned Kaunjika to comply with the revocation, effective immediately. The statement also clarified that any failure to adhere to the directive will result in legal prosecution.
This move follows a protest by vendors from Tsoka Flea Market in Lilongwe, who stormed the Parliament building in response to rising prices of second-hand clothes bales. The vendors are calling for urgent intervention to address the price hikes.
