Vendors in Limbe have taken to the streets in protest against the rising prices of second-hand clothes (Kaunjika). The demonstrators have been seen tearing down posters and billboards, some of which bear the face of President Lazarus Chakwera, along Chipembere Highway.

The protests come as President Chakwera arrives in Blantyre for a scheduled youth engagement session at Sanjika Palace.

A similar demonstration took place in Lilongwe on Tuesday 25 February 2025, where vendors from Tsoka Flea Market stormed Parliament, demanding government intervention on the soaring prices of goods.

Authorities are yet to comment on the protests.
