Police at Zalewa in Neno district are keeping in custody two men for allegedly being found in possession of petroleum liquid without license.

Neno police station publicist Rebecca Msoliza says the two are being identified as Davie Peter 34 from Ndelema village and Chikondi Baziwell 26, from Ngwenyama village, both from Traditional Authority Symon in the district.

Msoliza said the suspects were arrested following a tip from a well wisher who saw them buying petrol using motorcycles at Zalewa Puma pump station and later draining it into jerricans at Dzundu ground just behind Agora shop.

“Our officers rushed to the site and arrested the suspects and confiscated four 20 litres jerricans full of petrol,” said Msoliza.

The two will appear in court soon to answer the charges levelled against them.
