Zalewa Police in Neno District have arrested a taxi driver identified as Taonga Mwafulirwa aged 28 and his accomplice Ackim Chitseko for allegedly being found in possession of Indian hemp(Chamba) without license.
Neno police publicist Rebecca Msoliza said Mwafulirwa was arrested at Zalewa road block while he was driving a Honda Freed registration number LL 14556 from Lilongwe to Blantyre.
Msoliza said upon enquires, Mwafulirwa said he got the Indian hemp, which was packed in a black plastic bag, in Dedza from Chitseko who was also eventually arrested.
The suspects will appear in court soon to answer charges levelled against them; after drug tests at Bvumbwe Research Station.
Taonga Mwafulirwa hails from Mwakanyamau village, Traditional Authority Kyungu in Karonga district while Ackim Chitseko is from Singano village in the area of Traditional Authority Kuntaja in Blantyre district.
