
Death Toll from Rainy Season Disasters Rises to 39 – DoDMA

The number of people who have died due to sudden disasters during the rainy season has now reached 39, up from 35 last month.
Currently, the number of injured individuals has risen to 483 from 469.
According to Chipiliro Khamula, the spokesperson for the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA), the number of affected households has increased to 40,178 from 35,661, with at least 180,000 people impacted.
“A total of 26 people died after being struck by lightning, while others lost their lives when their houses collapsed on them. At the moment, 809 families remain in camps as their homes were completely destroyed,” Khamula stated.
Authorities continue to assess the damage and provide assistance to affected communities.
