Beloved Malawian artist Kelly Kambwiri popularly known as Kell Kay has started “Machawi” challenge, an initiative aimed at supporting street children by allowing them to pick any item of their choice within a supermarket in just one minute.

On March 5, 2025, Kell Kay introduced the challenge in Blantyre, where he took several street children from Chichiri Supermarket and let them enjoy the “quick pick” challenge at Ekhaya  Farms Foods.

Kell Kay shared a video on  Facebook page showing kids filling their shopping trolleys with desired commodities, all while having a fun time.

A notable moment in the video featured a young girl named Triphonia, who was assisted by the artist since she was too small to fully participate on her own.

The heartwarming Video was accompanied with a caption: “Small acts of kindness can make a big difference,” encouraging others to take part in the challenge and replicate it with street children across the country. He hopes to make the challenge go viral and inspire others to help and support street-connected children.
