Man Nabbed For Possessing 39kg of Cannabis In Mwanza

Police in Mwanza have arrested a 48-year-old man for being found in possession of over 39 kilograms of cannabis.
Mwanza Police spokesperson Hope Kasakula has confirmed the arrest and identifying the suspect as Macdonald Amos Mchema. He was driving a cargo truck (registration KA8501/KA9872) transporting medical supplies and other goods from South Africa to Blantyre.
Kasakula stated that police received a tip-off from well-wishers that the truck was carrying cannabis, leading to an immediate search operation. During the search, officers discovered the cannabis wrapped in cloth and plastic bags.
Mchema, who hails from Mchema Village, Traditional Authority Kawinga in Machinga District, is currently in police custody. He is expected to appear in court soon to answer charges of possessing cannabis without a license.
