
Man Arrested Man for Stealing Motorcycle at Gateway Mall in Lilongwe

Lilongwe Police is keeping in custody a 25-year-old man for stealing a Rico motorcycle valued at K1.5 million at Gateway Mall car park in the city on 17 January 2025.
Deputy spokesperson for Lilongwe Police Khumbo Sanyiwa, has confirmed the arrest and identfied the suspect as Shadreck Rodney.
According to Sanyiwa, on the said date at around 13:00 hours the victim parked the motorcycle at a motorcycle packing designated area, and went into the Airtel shop for personal business.
However, upon returning, he could not find the motorcycle, and he immediately reported the matter to Gateway Mall Police unit.
Going through the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage at the Mall, the suspect was clearly seen stealing the motorcycle.
Again, on a different day, the cameras also captured him commiting a similar offence on March 3, 2025.
During interrogation after his arrest, the suspect admitted to have stolen the motorcycle, and later led police to Chinsapo location where he sold it at K250 thousands.Police have since recovered the motorcycle.
The suspect will appear in court soon to answer a case of theft.
