The Neno First Grade Magistrate’s court has sentenced a 21-year-old Raymond Domwe to 4 years imprisonment with hard labor for having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old.
According to Neno Police public relations officer Rebecca Msoliza, the incident happened on 25 November, 2024 at Chimbalanga Village where Domwe dragged the victim to the nearby bush when she was coming from the river where she went to cut reeds and the suspect had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
After the incident, Domwe went into hiding until on 28th February, 2025 when he was arrested.
Msoliza says that Domwe pleaded guilty to the charge of having sexual intercourse with a minor when he was brought before the court and he asked for leniency citing he is the first offender.
In his submission, the state prosecutor Charles Nkhoma asked the court for a stiffer punishment saying that the victim has psychologically been affected.
Passing sentence, First Grade Magistrate Margret Khobidi concurred with the state and sentenced Domwe to 4 years imprisonment with hard labour.
Rymond Domwe hails from Chimbalanga village, Traditional Authority Dambe in Neno district.
