Police have launched an investigation into the alleged abduction of Agape Khombe, 39, the leader of Citizens for Justice and Equity.
According to reports, three unidentified men forcibly took Khombe from Arusha Bottle Store, a bar near Wakawaka Hotel in Kaphiri, Lilongwe, around 9 p.m. yesterday. His friend, Gift Chunga, later reported the incident to Lilongwe Police Station, prompting authorities to open an official inquiry.
The alleged kidnapping occurred just hours before Citizens for Justice and Equity was set to submit a petition to Parliament regarding the proposed Presidential Age Limit Bill.
National Police spokesperson Peter Kalaya confirmed the development, stating, “We have opened a formal investigation and are pursuing all leads to locate Khombe and apprehend the suspects.”
Authorities are calling on anyone with information to come forward as efforts to track down Khombe continue.
