Kasungu Police have arrested Village Head Nyakwawa Zatuwa, whose real name is Yohane Nyirenda, 63, on allegations of raping a woman with a mental disability.

According to Kasungu Police spokesperson Joseph Kachikho, the incident occurred on March 10 in the area of Senior Chief Chisinga.

“On the said day, the victim’s brother, Rodwell Nyirenda, became suspicious when he saw the woman’s child coming out of Village Head Zatuwa’s garden alone. When he entered the garden to investigate, he caught the suspect in the act,” Kachikho explained.

Village Head Zatuwa, who serves under Senior Chief Chisinga, is expected to appear in court soon to answer charges of rape.
