A 55-year-old man, Umiya Mwele, has died after a tree he was cutting for charcoal fell on him in Mulanje Mountain.

According to Mulanje Police spokesperson Innocent Moses, the incident occurred on Sunday, and Mwele was with his friend John Gambatu aged 65, at the time.

A post-mortem examination revealed that Mwele suffered internal injuries and broken ribs, which caused his death.

Mwele held from Mangombo village, Traditional Authority Mkanda in Mulanje.
