Renowned Malawian musicians Lawi, Lulu, Gwamba, and Kell Kay have organized a fundraising concert to support fellow artist Taygrin following a recent house fire that caused significant damage to his home.
The event, titled “From The Ashes,” is scheduled to take place on April 5, 2025, at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
Speaking about the initiative, Lawi, who is leading the organization of the concert, emphasized the importance of standing together as artists. He stated that while the funds raised may not fully recover Taygrin’s losses, they will help him start over.
“When I reached out to my fellow musicians, they quickly agreed to take part despite having other commitments on the same day. This shows the power of unity among artists,” said Lawi, who is well known for his hit song “Amaona Kuchedwa.”
Lawi also revealed that Temwah and legendary musician Giddes Chalamanda has been added to the lineup following reports that he is getting better now after being admitted at Chiradzulu Hospital.
Meanwhile, BICC management has offered the venue for free after learning about the purpose of the event.
