Former Zambian Minister of Defence Geoffrey Mwamba (GBM), who is serving a five-year jail term for corruption-related crimes, has pleaded with the court to grant him bail so he can travel abroad for medical treatment.

Through his lawyers, Mwamba argues that his prostate cancer is advancing and requires urgent medical attention.

“Doctors attending to me at Maina Soko Military Hospital, as I await my evacuation, have warned after tests that there are indications that my prostate cancer could be advancing,” he stated in his application.

Mwamba is requesting temporary release to seek treatment for what he describes as a terminal illness.
