Police in Dowa have arrested two people including a Malawian and a Congolese, on suspicion that they possessed cannabis at Dzaleka Refugee Camp.

Dowa police publicist, Alice Sitima, identified the two as Remasi Mziiki, a Congolese national residing at the camp, and Gosta Mvula, a Malawian.

She said police got a tip from well-wishers, which prompted officers from Dzaleka Police Unit to conduct a search at Mziiki’s home at Lisungwi area at the camp.

Sergeant Sitima said their operation found volumes of the illicit drug concealed in food containers, sack and plastic bags.

She said Mvula got arrested after he was found near Mziiki’s residence carrying a laptop bag containing cannabis, which was packed in a sack bag ready for sell.

The suspects will appear before court soon.
