A 16-year-old Brazilian girl, Emilly Sena, was murdered by Nataly Pereira, 25, who cut her unborn baby from her womb to claim as her own.
Sena was lured to a home in Cuiabá under the pretense of receiving donated baby clothes. Pereira then hanged her and performed the gruesome act while she was still alive. Her body was later found buried in a shallow grave with wires around her neck.
Pereira’s husband, Christian de Arruda, believed she was pregnant and even posted a photo of the baby online. Their deception was exposed at a hospital when staff noticed Pereira showed no signs of childbirth.
Authorities are investigating possible accomplices as knives were found at the crime scene.
An expert told Brazilian outlet G1 that Sena had cuts that resembled a “T” on her stomach and that she was alive when her baby was forcibly taken.
