A 19-year-old, Citizen Cossam is in police custody in Nkhata Bay for allegedly being found in possession of loose Cannabis Sativa wrapped in four plastic bags without a permit.

Nkhata Bay Police Publicist, Kondwani James said Cossam was arrested last night at Mkwiya roadblock by officers manning the checkpoint.

James said the suspect boarded a Toyota Sienta with registration number CA7638, traveling from Chintheche to Nkhata Bay.

“Cossam, who hails from Galeta Village, Traditional Authority Kanyenda in Nkhotakota district has been charged with possession of Cannabis Sativa without permit and will appear in court to answer the charge after completing the necessary paperwork,” said James.
