15-Year-Old Girl Drowns While Swimming in Naminjale River in Neno

A 15-year-old girl from the area of Senior Chief Symon, identified as Alice Jefule has drowned in Naminjale river in Neno district.
Neno police publicist Rebecca Msoliza confirmed the sad incident saying that on Tuesday, the victim together with her friends went to the river to swim but in the course of swimming, she fell into deep waters and drowned.
Msoliza further said efforts by her friends to rescue her failed.
” They reported the matter to her parents who later reported to Luwani Police Unit who immediately instituted a search party and after hours of search, her body was found stuck in the mud and was retrieved by our officers”, said Msoliza.
Postmortem conducted at Luwani Community Hospital revealed that death was due to suffocation secondary to drowning.
