Blantyre City Council has announced plans to introduce a night market starting this Friday, March 20, 2025, in a bid to boost business activities within the city.
The market will be held at Nandos in Blantyre’s Central Business District (CBD) and will run from 6:00 PM to midnight as part of a pilot phase. Its continuation will depend on public response and participation.
Blantyre City Mayor Joseph Makwinja stated that the council aims to increase revenue through this initiative. He also assured the public that security measures have been put in place, with over 30 security personnel assigned to maintain order and safety during market hours.
Additionally, all necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth operation of the night market have been finalized.
