Information reaching this publication indicates that Alfred Gangata, the Deputy Leader of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), has been released on bail.

Reports from the court show that the prosecution failed to provide sufficient evidence to prove that Gangata could tamper with evidence.

Gangata was arrested days ago on suspicion of using a fake MSCE certificate.

According to the police, he never studied at Chitowo School in Dedza, where he claims to have earned the certificate.

Meanwhile, Chief Resident Magistrate Austin Banda has ordered the prosecution to provide all relevant information to the suspect within seven days before he appears in court to enter a plea.
