Malawi’s national football team, the Flames, suffered a 2-0 defeat against Tunisia in a FIFA World Cup qualifier played on Monday night at the Olympique Hammadi Agrebi Stadium in Tunisia.
Seifeddine Jaziri broke the deadlock in the 87th minute before Elias Achouri sealed the victory with a penalty in the 90+2 minute.
Malawi had a chance to pull one back in added time through a penalty, but Richard Mbulu failed to convert, leaving the final score at 2-0 in favor of the Carthage Eagles.
The Flames ended the match with ten men after Lloyd Aaron received a red card following two yellow cards in the 64th minute.
Goalkeeper William Thole made several crucial saves to keep Malawi in the game, showcasing his shot-stopping abilities.
Following this result, Malawi sits in fifth place in Group H with six points, while Tunisia leads the standings with 16 points from the same number of matches.
