The senior resident Magistrate court in Lilongwe has convicted and sentenced two men for Robbery.
Lingadzi Police Station state prosecutor Sub inspector Tamala Banda told the court that 22 -year old Sandifilo Moffat and 23 -year old Elisha Nashoni committed the offence night of 12 -13 March ,2025 at Mtsiriza location in the city of Lilongwe.
Banda further told the court that Moffat and Nashoni robbed Gift James money amount to K15,000.00 and immediately before the time of robbery they threatened the victim with a panga knife in order to obtain the stolen property.
Appearing in court Moffat and Nashoni pleaded guilty to a case of robbery.
In his submission,Banda prayed for stiffer custodial sentence saying,such cases are rampant in the area.
Passing sentence Senior Resident Shukuran Kumbani concurred with the state,citing on the rise of such cases in the area hence sentenced Moffat and Nashoni to 7 years imprisonment with hard labour as deterrent to other would be offenders.
Sandifilo Moffat hails from Chilowoko village in the area of Traditional Authority Chitukula in Lilongwe District while Elisha Nashoni hails from Makoko village in the area of Traditional Authority Kadzuwa in Nsanje District.
