A police officer based at Chambe Police Unit in Mulanje, Sergeant Feston Jordan, 39, has died after his motorcycle collided with a pedal cyclist.

Mulanje Police spokesperson Innocent Moses said the accident occurred on the evening of March 24, 2025, along the Chitakale-Phalombe road near Show Ground.

He said Jordan was riding an unregistered Lifo motorcycle towards Chambe when he attempted to overtake Jackson Julius, 20, from Shaibu Village, Traditional Authority Nkanda, who was cycling in the same direction.

Moses said during the overtaking attempt, the two crashed, and both were rushed to Mulanje District Hospital.

Jordan succumbed to severe head injuries upon arrival, while the cyclist sustained multiple bruises and was treated as an outpatient.
