A 28-year-old woman from Linda Compound, Livingstone, was left unconscious after being brutally raped by three men on March 23, 2025. The woman had boarded a vehicle to return home after attending a funeral, but was assaulted during the journey.
According to Southern Province Police Commissioner, Auxensio Daka, the victim was traveling from a funeral in the DNC area of Dambwa North. At around 21:30 hours, she boarded a taxi near Mosi-Oa-Tunya Square Mall, with three unknown men as passengers. When the vehicle reached Windsor Bar in Zambia Railways Compound, the driver stopped and informed the passengers that he needed to buy something.
While the driver was away, he later returned, ordering the victim to exit the vehicle. When she resisted, he forcefully pulled her out and dragged her into a nearby bush, where he assaulted her. The driver then ordered the woman to remove her clothes before raping her. After a few minutes, the other two male passengers who had remained in the car joined in and took turns assaulting her. They also stole her phone, valued at K1,800.
After the severe beating and sexual assault, the victim was left unconscious. She regained consciousness around 01:30 hours the following morning and, summoning her strength, managed to make her way to the roadside. A driver at Beehive Bar and Restaurant spotted her and helped her to Linda Police Station, where she lodged a complaint.
The police are investigating the case, and the victim has stated that she could identify her attackers if seen.
