Malawian comedian Andreya Thonyiwa, popularly known as Mr. Jokes, has asked Malawian bloggers to take down a video of him dancing with his wife in their home.
The video, which was initially posted on his official Facebook page, quickly went viral as netizens shared it, praising his wife’s dance moves. Many bloggers found it entertaining and reposted it to engage their followers and showcase Mr. Jokes’ life after marriage.
However, Mr. Jokes is no longer amused. He has now asked everyone who shared the clip to delete it, just as he has done on his own page. His decision comes after noticing several negative and misleading comments about the video.
In a statement, Mr. Jokes explained his regret over posting the video:
“I posted a video of my wife dancing, and I received mixed reactions based on different perspectives. I have taken your advice seriously, and I now realize that the video was not meant for social media. She was dancing for me, but out of excitement, I made the mistake of posting it. Some people have said that my wife once worked in a pub. That is completely untrue. She has never worked in any pub; she is a student.”
Following his request, some blogs, including Umatha Daily, Mafumu, and Makosana, have already taken down the video. Mr. Jokes also reached out to Malawi Voice’s admin, asking them to remove it as well.
Meanwhile, some netizens argue that there was nothing wrong with the video, claiming that in many other countries, couples openly share such moments without controversy. However, others believe Mr. Jokes’ decision is valid, especially considering the backlash he received.
As the debate continues online, one thing is clear, Mr. Jokes is not joking about this matter.
