Chibuku Products Limited is facing backlash from customers in Nsanje for allegedly supplying expired Chibuku beer, sparking concerns about consumer safety and business impacts.
One of the affected customers, Patricia Ross, who runs a business at the Nsanje Boma, has expressed frustration, claiming that the company has been supplying expired Chibuku products for some time. She highlighted that one of the batches in question was manufactured on March 20, 2025, and is supposed to be consumed within three days of production.
“I still have the beer in stock because customers check the dates before buying. They refuse to purchase expired products as they could endanger their lives. It is really affecting my business,” Ross lamented.
When approached for a comment, Chibuku Products Limited’s Marketing and Corporate Services Manager, Henry Mbweza, declined to address the issue, stating that complaints should have been lodged through the supplier.
The alleged supply of expired products has raised concerns among local business operators who depend on selling Chibuku beer for their livelihood. Community members are now calling on the company to address the issue promptly and ensure that their products meet safety standards before reaching the market.
As the controversy unfolds, affected customers are urging Chibuku Products Limited to take responsibility and resolve the matter to prevent further business disruptions and ensure consumer safety.
