Malawian musician Blessings Manjandima, popularly known as Nonymous, took to social media on March 30, 2025, to share a deeply personal and harrowing experience, revealing that her boyfriend physically abused her to the point of nearly losing her life.
In a heartfelt and emotional post, Nonymous recounted the terrifying incident that occurred on March 22, 2025. She revealed that she was found unconscious and rushed to the hospital, where a doctor reportedly told the person who brought her:
“Tapitani kapangeni report ya ku police kaye, munthu wafatu uyu” (Go and make a police report first; this person is dead).
She expressed that despite nearly losing her life, she initially kept quiet because of the love and emotional attachment she had for her boyfriend.
“I nearly lost my life and yet I kept quiet because the person who did this to me was someone dear to my heart,” she wrote.
“I was embarrassed of what you people will say. I was scared I’m doing the wrong thing. I believed I needed to give him the benefit of the doubt.”
Nonymous also disclosed that this was not the first time she had been physically assaulted by her partner.”This is not the first, or the second it’s my third time being beaten. The only difference is that this time I would have lost my life.”
She revealed that the incident left her not only physically and emotionally broken but also financially strained. She lost her phone, which she heavily relied on for her business, and some items from her shop were damaged.
“I’m on the verge of losing my shop and my home. I’m not as strong as I thought I was this is my breaking point,” she lamented.
In a poignant statement, Nonymous expressed how music, once a source of joy, had become a painful reminder of the abuse.
“Music will never sound the same again. An instrument meant to bring sweet melodies was my doom and the weapon used to almost take my life.”
While Nonymous did not disclose the identity of her boyfriend, she admitted that fear and emotional attachment made her conceal his face in previous social media posts.
Her post has sparked widespread support from fans and the public, urging her to seek justice and prioritizing her safety. The situation has also reignited conversations about domestic violence and the struggles many survivors face in speaking out.
