15-Year-Old Girl Struck by Lightning in Balaka

A 15-year-old girl has died after being struck by lightning in Balaka yesterday.
According to Balaka Police spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha, the tragic incident occurred in Amoni 1 Village under the jurisdiction of Senior Chief Msamala.
Reports indicate that the girl, who was working as a housemaid for a woman in Amoni 1, was alone inside the house when the lightning struck during a nighttime rainstorm. The impact caused her to collapse, and she died instantly.
The deceased has been identified as being from Yosefe Village under Senior Chief Ganya in Ntcheu.
Police are continuing their investigations and have urged community members to take extra precautions during thunderstorms.
