Police at Masambanjati in Thyolo District have apprehended a 29-year-old man, identified as Mphatso Makanda, for allegedly stealing a Lifo motorcycle valued at K1.5 million.

According to Amos Banda, the police spokesperson, the incident occurred on March 31, 2025. The owner of the motorcycle, Samuel Daniel from Mkozalendo Village, had parked his motorcycle at a local drinking joint. Upon returning to the spot, Daniel discovered that the motorcycle was missing.

Following a thorough investigation, police managed to apprehend the suspect and successfully recover the stolen motorcycle.

Mphatso Makanda, the suspect, is from Chamera Village, under Traditional Authority Nsabwe in Thyolo District.

The police have since urged community members to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help curb theft cases in the area.
