Umodzi party has hinted that it will maintain its partnership with Malawi congress Party as 16 September general elections approaches.
Umodzi Party President Thomas Wezi Kaumba said this during an interview in Blantyre.
Interestingly, parties such as united transformation movement ( UTM) people’s party, alliance for democracy ( Aford) and several others who formed Tonse alliance prior to 2019 general elections are no longer in the alliance due to various reasons.
According to Kaumba, the MCP led government has initiated various development projects, across the country hence the decision to remain in the alliance.
The politician acknowledged that the country is facing several challenges such as food shortage and sky rocketing of prices of goods and services.
He pointed out at natural calamities such dry spells as the course of food shortage in the country.
On the other hand, Kaumba has stated that on the 27th this month, Umodzi party will conduct a big walk in Blantyre with the aim of raising a voice on the importance of constructing a district hospital which will help to ease congestion at Queens Elizabeth Central Hospital which has been talked for such a long time.
“Recently I visited QECH due to an illness, and i noticed that though the staff are hardworking and caring, they are overwhelmed with a number of patients visiting the medical facility hence the call for construction of Blantyre district hospital which will supplement QECH,” said Kaumba
