A political analyst, Dr. George Chaima, has advised political parties currently engaged in alliance talks to learn from the experiences of the Tonse Alliance.
Dr. Chaima noted that in light of the 50+1% vote requirement, forming alliances remains the most practical way for parties to succeed in elections. However, he emphasized the importance of transparency, urging parties to clearly communicate their intentions and terms of any alliance to their supporters.
He warned that the secrecy surrounding the Tonse Alliance agreements should not be repeated, as many party followers were left in the dark about what their leaders had agreed upon.
Currently, parties such as UDF, AFORD, and UTM have confirmed they are in discussions to explore the possibility of contesting the upcoming general elections as a united front.
