The government of Malawi through the ministry of Agriculture has announced the official minimum farm gate prices for strategic agriculture commodities for the 2024/25 farming season.

According to a press release issued on April 7 by Eng. Geoffrey C. Mamba, Secretary for Agriculture, the prices are effective immediate and apply to all agro dealers, agro processors and other stakeholders involved in the buying of agricultural produces.

The ministry has also highlighted that licenses to buy agricultural products must be obtained from program managers across agricultural development divisions including Karonga, Mzuzu, Kasungu, Lilongwe, Salima, Machinga, Blantyre, and shire valley. Licenses   can also be acquired from the director of crop development at the Malawi China Agriculture Technical Cooperation near NRC campus.

The ministry has urged all stakeholders to comply  with the new pricing policy and encouraged farmers to report any instances of malpractice or price violation.
