Chiradzulu Road Accident Claims 3 Lives

Three people have died while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries in a road accident that occurred on Tuesday along the John Chilembwe Highway (M3 road) in Chiradzulu District.
According to Chiradzulu Police Public Relations Officer, Cosmos Kagulo, the deceased have been identified as Kamwendo Siyabu, 35, who was driving the minibus, Mwinjiwawo Nakanga, 40, a pastor at Living Waters Church in Chirimba and McFriday Mmadi, 16, a student at Maranatha Boys Academy.
Kagulo said the accident happened when a Toyota Hilux double cabin, driven by a Mr. Londwe, 42, swerved into the opposite lane while trying to avoid a pothole.
“Because of this, he swerved to the offside lane and hit the oncoming Toyota hiace from Blantyre direction which had 18 passengers on board,” he said.
He added that four passengers who sustained serious injuries are currently admitted to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre while 16 others and Mr Londwe have been treated as outpatients.
